What It Takes To Draw Closer To God
Matters of life tend to be what we
represent. We take matters into our own hands, grappling with mishaps and
misfits only to make them worse than what they were in the beginning. Our minds
are fixed on what we want, what we think we need, and what we believe is best
for our lives. A selfish nature allows us to be unsatisfied in every area of
our lives.
The only way to make life better is
to draw closer to God. He has the solution for everything we experience. The
Lord, if we totally rely on Him, shall supply all your needs according to His
riches in glory through Christ Jesus. The challenge for us is using the proper
tools to be in the bossom of His love, to be in the midst of His favor.
For the past couple of weeks, and
for another 20 weeks our focus will be on Psalm 119, an alphabetical Psalm that
consists of 22 parts (eight verses per part) that begins with each of the
Hebrew letters. The composition of the 119th Song delivers to us the excellence
of God, His way, and the joy of those who follow God's Word.
Every individual should do whatever
it takes to draw closer to God. How should we do that? Do we have time and
material resources to do this? My mother used to say "You have more time
than you have money." Time is your most valuable resource. What you do
with your time determines what your future holds.
Some supernaturally practical
things mentioned in Part 3 (Psalm 119:9-16) of this series include an abundance
of What It Takes To Draw Closer to God.
Psalm 119:9-16
Beth. Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. With my whole
heart have I sought thee: Oh let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word
have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee. Blessed art
thou, O Jehovah: Teach me thy statutes. With my lips have I declared All the
ordinances of thy mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, As much
as in all riches. I will meditate on thy precepts, And have respect unto thy
ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
